JW Oller (Elite Designs Unlimited) said his nearly 40‑year career in architectural drafting and plan review — including prior service on an architectural review board in California — would be an asset in examining subdivision, grading, drainage and design standards; he offered to provide plan sets as part of his application.
Keith Trahearn, a longtime local real‑estate appraiser, cited knowledge of historical wetlands, local lot conditions and zoning processes; he emphasized avoiding building within wetlands, designing transitional buffers between multifamily and large single‑family lots, and bringing practical local knowledge to long‑range planning decisions.
Councilors asked each candidate about applicable skills, evidence used to support their positions, prior community involvement and whether they had observed recent code hearings; candidates responded that they would rely on experience, community conversation and subject‑matter experts to inform decisions.
No appointments were recorded during the workshop portion of the meeting; questions from the council centered on qualifications, likely ethics and outreach for contentious variance issues and the candidates’ ability to read and interpret code and engineering plans.
