The Board of Education approved the 2026–27 budget development calendar and heard a staff presentation on the timeline and outreach plan.
Finance staff described a three‑phase approach: assembling the fundamental budget building blocks now, conducting formal board budget development sessions (about 11 dedicated sessions between the board and the audit and finance committee) and preparing for the public vote. Staff said the district will roll out budget assumptions, then build a maintenance‑of‑effort baseline and finally present a recommended budget informed by priorities collected from students, staff and the community.
Officials noted a public 'budget priorities' exchange will be open Dec. 1–12 to gather community input, and the district is preparing for a legally required vote scheduled across the state on May 19, 2026. The board signaled it will continue staged discussions in committee and board work sessions before presenting a formal budget for community review and the vote.
