Mitchell — At its regular meeting the City Council approved routine consent items and several agenda actions that included development permits, license transfers and professional services contracts.
The council approved a variance requested by Habitat for Humanity to permit a zero-foot east side yard setback for a twin-home structure after planning commission unanimous recommendation; a public comment noted foundations had already been poured but the council carried the motion. The council also approved a developer request for five street lights in the Southlake Estates Phase 1 development (city cost $18.47 per light per month where Northwestern Energy installs wood poles at no initial charge).
License actions included transfer and renewal approvals for retail on-off sale malt beverage and wine licenses for Palace City Brewing Company at 227 West Railroad Avenue; the police chief reviewed the applications and reported no concerns. The council authorized an amendment (A2025-46) to an airport hangar revenue project grant to change the award from a single-year to a multiyear project and approved a geotechnical services contract (A2025-69) for borings and percolation tests at the new water-distribution facility (low bid $5,200).
