The Planning, Building & Zoning Committee on Nov. 24 voted to recommend approval of a license agreement with Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) authorizing two underground electric distribution routes in rights-of-way on Chatham Drive, Essex Drive, Beacon Point Drive, Beverly Road and Trillium Boulevard to serve the Compass data center.
ComEd representative Mohammad Sikulassan told trustees the work involves installing two underground 138 kV lines on two separate routes with variable depths (staff described segments up to 20 feet deep in nonresidential areas, but not in residential areas). Trustees asked whether deep trenches would cross residential sections; ComEd said deep crossings were limited to Tollway or other utility areas and would not be 20 feet deep through residential neighborhoods. Staff noted the township will consider jurisdictions where Beverly Road lies in township jurisdiction. The license agreement largely mirrors prior agreements with only minor jurisdictional inclusions.
The committee approved the license agreement by voice vote and the item will be forwarded for final action.
