"The only requirement for the city is... to provide some chairs, some tables, and some other canopy," he said.
Staff asked Jimenez to prepare a staff report listing specifics (date, time, vendor list, volunteer needs, and any funding requirements) so the commission can take the request forward at the January meeting; staff noted that if no city funding is needed, council approval should not be required. Commissioners also discussed outreach and promotions (flyers, partnerships with local businesses such as a nearby coffee shop) and suggested adding a pet-adoption clinic as a complementary activity.
The commission agreed to work with DRD and city events staff to avoid schedule conflicts and to return with a staff report and flyers for the January meeting. Item C was for discussion only; no formal action was recorded.
