Commissioners approve tax appeals, resolutions and budget amendment No. 4
Summary

The Northampton County Board of Commissioners approved several tax-department items and a multi-line budget amendment at the meeting.
Tax staff asked the board to approve 12 Avalon tax appeals totaling $2,340.36 and 13 motor-vehicle refunds/appeals totaling $652.06; both sets of appeals were approved by motion and voice vote. The board also approved a late application for property-tax relief for Patricia Deans under the old-age/disability exclusion, and adopted a resolution authorizing upset-bid procedures for the sale of county-owned property in Rich Square Township. Commissioners also adopted the 2026 listing-extension dates that will be advertised in the county paper.
On financial matters the finance officer presented Budget Amendment No. 4, which included additional North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services funds ($10,066) for emergency foster placements; aging-department grant carryforward ($17,86x and $6,016 moved from fund balance); insurance receipts and vehicle repair allocations ($8,714; $35,041); restricted drug-tax funds forwarded ($47,977); and $30,426 in Department of Public Safety grant carryforward. The board moved and approved the budget amendment by voice vote.
