Brian McCain provided city updates at the Pueblo City Council meeting Monday evening, announcing the 35th annual Parade of Lights set for Saturday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m., with the route beginning at Abriendo and Union Avenue and the city float listed as entry No. 8.
McCain described a Small Business Window Repair Mini Grant funded with American Rescue Plan Act interest dollars. He said the city allocated $50,000 to the program, which will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible applicants must provide a police report, a paid invoice for glass replacement and a valid business license, and must be in good standing with the city; reimbursements are capped at $1,000 per business and the program intends to serve up to 50 businesses. McCain said only window damage dated on or after May 1, 2025, will be eligible for reimbursement.
The city also announced holiday community partnerships: an angel gift tree in City Hall (gifts to be returned to the mayor’s office by Dec. 15) and a joint holiday event staged by El Centro Del Quinto Sol and the Pueblo City-County Library District at the Patrick A. Lucero Library branch on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On public safety, McCain summarized Pueblo Police Department activity for Nov. 13–19: 1,123 dispatched calls for service and 294 self‑initiated calls. He listed self-initiated call types and noted an increase in loitering citations year-to-date (1,273 citations, up 52% from the prior year).
McCain’s announcements were presented as information for the council and public; no formal council action on these items was recorded in the provided segment of the meeting. The council moved on to the next agenda item following the updates.
