At its final 2025 meeting, the Temecula City Council approved leadership appointments for 2026. Councilmember Stewart nominated Jessica Alexander for mayor and Matt Rahn for mayor pro tem; the motion passed unanimously.

Public commenter Jack Guerrero recommended Jessica Alexander for mayor before the vote. After the council vote, members thanked outgoing mayor Brendan Kalfas for his service in 2025.

The council then addressed Temecula Community Services District leadership. A motion to appoint Councilmember Stewart as president and another councilmember as vice president passed 4‑1, with Mayor Brendan Kalfas casting the single dissenting vote. Council members said new leadership will participate in the TCSD work plan due in the coming year.

The appointments take effect Jan. 1, 2026. No additional substantive policy action was taken during the appointment votes.
