Pryor Creek council authorizes roof assessment, hears progress report on South Elliot drainage

The Pryor Creek City Council voted to permit the mayor to solicit consultations and limited paid inspections — not to exceed $5,000 — to determine the scope and cause of ongoing leaks and deterioration in the city-hall roof. The mayor said several previous inspections through OMAG were not fully satisfactory and staff want a thorough scope before authorizing replacement.
Council members debated scope and funding; staff said the assessment would come from the city-hall capital account. The mayor emphasized there is no intent to proceed with replacement until staff have a definitive diagnosis: "There’s no intent on making any changes to the roof right now...but I may ask if the council would be okay with a not to exceed 5,000." The motion to authorize the assessment passed.
Separately, staff reported progress on the South Elliot street/drainage project. Crews have buried drainage piping between 15th and 13th streets, replacing unsightly recessed ditches with three-buried pipes to create ground-level, flush yards and reduce maintenance hazards. Staff explained property owners will remain responsible for mowing the newly flattened areas; the street department will consider assistance only if specific problems arise.
What’s next: Staff will proceed with the limited consulting work on the city-hall roof if needed and continue South Elliot construction as scheduled. Council identified Cemetery Hill as a likely next street-maintenance priority.
