The Post Falls City Council voted to approve the North Place right-of-way vacation (VAC-253), requested by the Schneimiller brothers, to clear an older linear right-of-way that does not match the approved subdivision layout.

John Mahler, Planning Manager, told the council staff found no need to retain utilities in the corridor and that the requested vacation would let the owners dedicate rights-of-way as their development phases proceed. Mahler said the existing right-of-way dated from a 1910 plat and that the area requested for vacation is approximately 5 acres.

Applicant Kevin Schneidmiller said the vacation will allow planned roads to be constructed in alignment with the approved preliminary plat and better match the city’s Master Transportation Plan. After limited questions from council members and no public opposition at the hearing, a motion to approve the vacation passed by roll call.

Next steps: the city will process the formal vacation documentation and coordinate subsequent dedications as phases are recorded.
