Natrona commission forwards zoning resolution amendments to BOCC with unanimous recommendation

The Natrona County Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously voted Nov. 19 to forward proposed amendments to the county’s 2022 zoning resolution to the Board of County Commissioners for consideration.
Sabrina Kemper, Natrona County development director, told the commission the draft amendments have been posted on the county website for a 45-day public comment period since Sept. 30 and that staff had received no written public comments. The draft clarifies several application- and industrial-siting provisions and staff said a short list of minor items remains for future refinement.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about the industrial-siting language and were told state-level industrial siting council requirements remain applicable. The commission approved the motion to recommend the amendments to the BOCC; staff said the BOCC will consider the package at its Dec. 2 meeting and, if approved, the amendments would be implemented following that action.
Staff said the amendments are intended to clarify application procedures and specific uses (for example, commercial storage definitions) and that staff will continue to refine the document based on experience and future public input.
