The Methacton School District on Nov. 25 recognized teachers, support staff, volunteers and students in the Spirit of Methacton awards and held a public farewell for Board President Jennifer Cancro.
Principal Amici and board members presented awards to staff and volunteers cited for service to Worcester/Worcestershire Elementary School and district programs; named recipients included Beth Barth (teacher), Rebecca Flaherty (library/STEM), Rebecca Elliott (instructional aide) and volunteers Jessica Starrs and Carmela Mandracchio. Student recipients included Lily Yoon and Shay Kindred. Board materials and presenters described the awards as honoring the district's stated core values.
The board then honored President Cancro, noting her service since joining the board in 2017 and her leadership during major initiatives including opening Arrowhead Elementary, expanding full‑day kindergarten and guiding planning for a high‑school renovation. President Cancro spoke at length about her background, her commitment to public education and gratitude for the community. Board members publicly thanked Cancro and said she will be missed.
The honors were presented at the start of the Nov. 25 meeting and drew applause from attendees.
