The Kalispell City Council unanimously approved Resolution 6301 to amend the general fund budget and transfer $600,000 to the Central Garage Fund for initial design work on a new central garage facility.
City staff summarized prior work sessions and planning, saying the city garage reduces costs by allowing on‑site maintenance instead of sending city equipment off‑site for repair. "If they so choose, the transfer would move $600,000 for initial design activities for a new central garage facility," City Manager Nygren said during the public hearing. No members of the public spoke on the item.
Councilor Dowd moved and the council carried the resolution on roll‑call vote. Staff said further design work and budget decisions would follow and that the item responds to prior council direction and budget session discussions.
