Schrader Group updates board on Methacton High School schematic design, zoning timeline shifts

Devin of the Schrader Group updated the Methacton School District board on Nov. 25 about progress on the Methacton High School schematic design and next steps in approvals and public hearings.

Devin said the project recently moved into schematic design and the team has been meeting biweekly since approval. The firm plans to submit a sketch plan in December and — after a township comment period — likely file zoning materials in March rather than the January date previously discussed. "We were approved to move into schematic design at the last board meeting in October and we've been meeting weekly since then," Devin told the board.

The schematic phase will include meetings with end users and stakeholder groups: performing arts and pool groups in December, building administration and counseling/wellness staff in follow‑up sessions, and student input opportunities. The schedule presented targets a final schematic presentation in February that will include cost updates and could lead to a board vote to move into design development.

Devin noted subsequent phases: design development (February–August), construction documents and land‑development approvals, and an Act 34 hearing that will use design development cost estimates to set a not‑to‑exceed number for the public hearing required by state practice. The presentation said approvals are targeted by the end of next year or early 2027, with land development approvals to follow in 2027.

Board members asked no substantive questions during the update, and the administration said visuals and more detailed cost estimates will be presented in January and February.
