The mayor described Avashon as consistently demonstrating dedication, professionalism and compassion in both on‑duty and off‑duty roles, including regular support to a fellow public‑safety employee and community assistance. Councilmembers and the presiding official thanked Avashon for his service and presented the recognition.
The council meeting proceeded to regular business following the presentation.
