Board approves bridge and road contracts, multiple entrance permits

At its Nov. 25 meeting the Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved multiple transportation contracts and routine entrance permits.
Secondary Roads staff presented DOT bid results: the Channelworth Bridge (Pair 96) received a low responsive bid from Taylor Construction at $2,170,000. The board approved Resolution No. 1152‑11‑25‑2025 to award the bid to Taylor Construction.
The Bernard Road concrete overlay received multiple competitive bids; the board approved awarding that contract to Boomerang Construction for approximately $2,200,000 under Resolution No. 1153‑11‑25‑2025. Staff noted the project includes HIP/DOT funding of $300,000 for shoulder, rumble strip and pavement work, and discussed that construction timing depends on contractor scheduling and weather conditions.
The board also approved routine entrance permits for property owners including Richardson (field entrance on 142nd Street), Goose (field entrance on 320th Street), D & T Homes (second residential entrance on 50th Avenue) and Tim Curran (residential entrance on 113th Avenue). Each permit was approved after staff confirmed sight‑distance and culvert requirements where applicable.
Motions and resolutions were approved by voice vote; the board asked staff to post contract execution documents and monitor construction schedules.
