At the Nov. 17 meeting, Craig Goodman, chief of Waco ISD Police and representative of the Texas Police Chiefs Association, presented Manor ISD with a certificate recognizing its completion of the TPCA law-enforcement accreditation program.
Goodman described the accreditation as voluntary and standards-based, covering 173 standards that address use of force, training, evidence management and other operations. He said the Manor ISD Police Department completed a multi-year self-audit, hosted assessor site visits and was unanimously recommended for accreditation by a committee of chiefs and a sheriff.
"I'm proud to be here this evening to present the Manor ISD Police Department with a certificate of Texas law-enforcement accreditation," Goodman said, and he specifically recognized Chief Clarence Yarbrough and program manager Edith Smith for their roles in the process.
The certificate read aloud during the presentation lists an effective accreditation date of 09/30/2025 and staff noted that TPCA will require annual reports and another on-site inspection within four years to confirm continued compliance.
Board members and attendees gave applause and congratulated the department; no board action was required beyond the formal recognition.
