Billings council proclaims November for epilepsy and family court awareness

Kyla Hailstone, director of the Montana Family Court Awareness Project, thanked the council and described recent legislative changes the project supported, including criminalizing domestic violence in the presence of children and establishing training requirements for court‑appointed special advocates. She said the proclamation will help the project roll out public education and trauma‑informed training efforts.
Both proclamations were presented as ceremonial items; the council did not take formal policy action beyond the proclamations. Mayor Cole and others urged residents to learn more about available services and training opportunities.
