Staff said City Council at its October 14 meeting approved formation of a joint subcommittee composed of Councilmember Jackson and Mayor Seaman plus two public works commissioners; the subcommittee as presented would disband on April 14, 2026 and report back to council shortly afterward. Commissioners discussed seniority-based rotation for leadership; after public comment was closed, a motion to accept the staff recommendation passed by roll call.
On the subcommittee, multiple commissioners expressed interest. The commission solicited volunteers, allowed withdrawals, and ultimately placed a motion to appoint Commissioners Hayes and Britton to the joint subcommittee; that motion passed by roll call.
Staff said the subcommittee schedule had not yet been set and would be coordinated among the four members, with meetings expected to start after the holidays or in early 2026 depending on availability. The subcommittee's stated purpose is to improve CIP oversight processes and provide recommendations to council.
