Staff said 14 bids were opened on Nov. 12 and that the winning bid(s) were well under the $3,184,337 estimate. Council members and staff discussed how securing fuel and lodging tenants first tends to attract food-service development; one council participant noted strong interest in fuel and lodging and said "once we achieve those first 3 goals" the site attracts additional businesses.
Council also noted the project is anticipated to be completed before the end of the year and that costs incurred prior to 2026 could be certified within the current urban renewal area; council said they will decide whether to renew or create a new urban renewal area to cover remaining acreage.
