Elizabeth Hyatt, Recreation Supervisor for the Parks and Recreation Department, briefed the commission on the 10th season of Denison On Ice.
Hyatt said the rink was increased by 14 feet and the tent square footage was expanded; capacity remained the same. The Heritage Park Christmas tree (about 16 feet) was moved to Denison On Ice this year while Heritage Park is under construction. Hyatt said build-out was mostly completed by Nov. 19, the media day, which included promotional appearances by the mayor and staff.
Hyatt provided attendance and staffing figures: "We had 421 people in attendance over the weekend" (opening weekend) and "1,147 attendees" during the holiday week. She described operations staffing as nine dedicated maintenance workers (combining contract and city staff), 29 associates and five managers running the operation. Hyatt reported sponsorships totaled $98,000 this year, including a presenting sponsor, Blue Peak Fiber Internet; she said sponsorships included about $39,000 in cash and $48,000 in in-kind support.
Hyatt said no action was needed and offered to provide additional square-footage figures on request; she did not have the total square-foot number on hand at the meeting.
