Resident urges fair access to Linwood Park turf field, says club rentals dominate schedule

"They kind of single handedly pushed everybody out of the park," Wong told the council, saying the club "effectively rent out the park for, effectively 4 days out of the week from the afternoon to the evening." He argued Brookhaven Parks and Recreation's mission is to "provide a variety of recreational opportunities that will meet the needs of all residents" and suggested several options: allow half-field rentals so others may use remaining space; limit the total time a group may rent the field; or set specific days or lengths of time for recurring rentals.
Wong said he had emailed Christian Sigman with suggestions and acknowledged the value of club sports but urged a balance so "all residents" may use public amenities. The mayor closed public comment on the item after Wong's remarks; no council action was taken at the meeting.
