At a special-call URA meeting, a staff member summarized Ordinance ID 7393 as "a budget ordinance to accept funding for the City Center infrastructure project from funds coming from the SSD," and listed the items in the ordinance that would be expended. Commissioner Michael Diaz moved to approve Ordinance 7393; Vice Chair John Funny seconded. Chairman John Park called the vote; the motion passed 3-0.
The URA earlier approved its consent agenda by the same 3-0 margin. The URA meeting adjourned by acclimation and the body said it would convene the City Council meeting shortly afterward.
At the council meeting that followed, staff said the companion SSD ordinance would allocate $623,558 to the URA to complete City Center infrastructure work and noted the council could hold the public hearing tonight and vote at a later meeting. Because two council members were absent, the council announced it would take no final action and scheduled votes for Oct. 9.
What happens next: The URA has adopted the ordinance authorizing acceptance of SSD funds; the City Council must complete the SSD budget amendment and related appropriations in a later meeting to authorize the transfer of funds and any city-side appropriations.
