Greene County commissioners on Thursday approved a package of routine but consequential actions, including an update to the building permit fee schedule, authorization to pursue state grant funding for road and bridge projects, and contract and land-use approvals.
The board voted to update the county’s building regulation permit fees — last changed in 2012 — saying the increases will not fully restore cost recovery but will bring the department closer to revenue neutrality. County staff (Speaker 5) said the new fees will take effect Jan. 1, 2026. "While it does not operate today as an enterprise fund, we track our expenses related to our revenues, and we are certainly spending more than we're bringing in," Speaker 5 said.
