Delaware County approves sale of SourcePoint building to nonprofit tenant

The Delaware County Board of Commissioners voted Dec. 11 to approve the sale of the county-owned building at 800 Cheshire Road to SourcePoint, the nonprofit that has leased the facility since it opened in 2007.

General counsel Eric Kostadler introduced Resolution 25-1040, which authorizes the sale and directs the county administrator to execute closing documents. The board approved the resolution by roll-call vote.

Farrah, SourcePoint's executive director, told commissioners the organization has served more than 12,700 in-home care clients over time, delivered its 5 millionth meal in 2025 and has seen membership triple over the past decade. "This opportunity ensures that the older adults who rely on us will continue to have a place designated for their well-being, learning, and connection," she said.

Founding executive director Bob Horrocks reflected on the project's origins in a 2005 bond measure and said ownership is a long-sought milestone. "Twenty years later, I don't think people could imagine not having that building here in Delaware," he said, recounting early fundraising and construction efforts.

Commissioners praised SourcePoint's programming and stewardship of the facility. Chair Barb Lewis and Commissioners Jeff Benton and Gary Merrill voted aye to approve the sale.

The resolution enables SourcePoint to plan capital investments and long-term stewardship of the site; closing logistics and purchase details were not specified during the public presentation. The board scheduled no further action on this item at the meeting.

Proper names mentioned at the hearing included SourcePoint, Liberty Presbyterian Church and the SourcePoint facilities staff; the record shows the nonprofit will move from long-term tenant status to owner-operator of the Cheshire Road facility.
