The Board of Supervisors approved a draft fleet acquisition policy and adopted a resolution authorizing the county to enter an agreement with Unified Fleet Services LLC to provide sourcing, procurement, financing and liquidation services for county fleet vehicles.
Joel (County Administrative Office) presented the policy highlights, describing it as a set of guidelines for when to lease versus purchase, finance options and a decision tree that gives the CAO and fleet superintendent flexibility to choose the most cost-effective approach. "A lot of these are more like guidelines," he said, describing the policy as intended to help select the option that results in the most optimal annual cost to the county.
The second action asked the board to approve a resolution allowing the county to execute a vendor agreement that would let staff lease vehicles through a commercial bank, obtain fleet-management advisory services and liquidate vehicles when advantageous. Representatives from Unified Fleet Services were present to answer questions.
The board voted unanimously to approve the policy and authorize the chair to sign the agreement.
