The Newton City Commission approved publishing a notice of public hearing for a recommended 2025 budget amendment affecting the Meridian Center fund.
Finance staff (Janetta) told the commission the fund’s beginning cash balance increased from $12,972 in the adopted budget to $53,641, an additional $40,669 that would give the commission authority to spend those resources in 2025 if desired. Staff recommended amending the fund to reflect the increased available resources and publishing a notice of the public hearing.
The commission approved the budget amendment notice and set a public hearing for Dec. 9 at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall.
