The Newton City Commission unanimously approved a purchase and sale agreement to sell 3.68 acres in the Newton Industrial Park to Heartland Audio Visual.
Zach (staff) told the commission Heartland would use the site for commercial and warehouse operations. He said the company operates in Kansas City and Wichita, currently has five full‑time employees and has performed audio‑visual work for the city’s new library. Zach calculated the asking price at $15,000 per acre, which he said equates to about $55,200 for the parcel.
A motion to approve the purchase and sale agreement was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
The sale is intended to support local economic development by providing a permanent site for Heartland’s regional operations.
