The committee recommended that up to $40,000 be included in the 2026 budget to fund a campaign promoting relocation to Caddo Parish, aimed at attracting remote workers and young families.
Commissioner John Paul Young introduced the idea and described housing affordability and quality-of-life benefits as selling points. Administrators said consultant estimates for such campaigns ranged from about $25,000 to $40,000 and suggested funding could come from oil-and-gas or other appropriate funds. One commissioner noted the proposal might include a syndicated program option and district-specific segments.
The committee voted to recommend up to $40,000 for the campaign; the motion carried with four votes in favor, one opposed and one absent. The recommendation will go to the full commission for final consideration in the 2026 budget process.
