Billy Fisher, senior park operations manager, introduced Ryan Morales as the Parks Department’s new park supervisor at the Parks Advisory Board meeting. Morales said he has lived in Davenport for about 15 years and has been with the city for roughly 10 years, starting at River’s Edge and moving into park operations two and a half years ago before taking the supervisor role a few months ago.
The board welcomed Morales, with members praising his experience working across facilities. Fisher said Morales’s background included skate instruction, maintenance, and seasonal work at the golf course, and that Morales had moved up through city operations. Morales said he is “excited to have that opportunity” and thanked staff for support in his promotion.
Members noted the benefit of promoting from within and expressed confidence that Morales’s operational knowledge would help the department manage parks, facilities and upcoming seasonal demands. The chair and other board members offered brief remarks of welcome. The board did not take formal action regarding the hire during the meeting.
The board will next meet Dec. 18; staff said Morales and operations will continue to brief the board on park maintenance and upcoming projects.
