Residents praise carbon fund, urge SolarAPP Plus review for rooftop solar

Two members of the public addressed the Strategic Development Team during the meeting’s public-comment period. Peter Evertz thanked the team for its structure and candor, said he has contributed to the community carbon fund through the community foundation and offered to help connect business donors: “I’ve been contributing to that fund, through the community foundation and believe in it,” he said.
Laura Judge urged staff to investigate SolarAPP Plus, a federally developed, free software some states have mandated to streamline the permitting and approval process for rooftop solar and batteries. Judge said she would pass printed material to Andrew for follow-up: “It makes the whole, approval process for, like, solar batteries... It’s streamlined. Very quick... It’s free.”
Both speakers expressed general support for the committee’s work and encouraged additional outreach to local businesses and contractors to accelerate adoption of electrification measures and renewable energy at the neighborhood level. The committee closed public comment after the two remarks and proceeded with its agenda.
