The Calcasieu Parish Planning and Zoning Board met and approved minutes from its Aug. 19 meeting and a series of land‑use requests on voice votes, including a setback variance, two borrow‑pit exceptions and a rezoning that will proceed to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury.
At the start of the business session, the board unanimously approved the Aug. 19 minutes after a motion by Miss Hart and a second from Miss Latricia Cobb.
On agenda item 6a, the board approved a variance for 5706 Spruce Street in Ward 3 to reduce the required side‑yard setback for an existing accessory building from 3 feet to 1 foot. Planning staff member Miss Tannick told the board, "Because minimal impacts are to be expected, the staff recommends the request be granted with the following conditions," including adherence to the site plan on file, technical adjustments at the director's discretion, obtaining a permit within five days of zoning approval and installing a guttering system within 30 days to retain runoff on the applicant’s property. Mister Brock made the motion to approve with conditions; Miss Whiney seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote.
