Kootenai County commissioners approved a final credit change order for the Kootenai County Justice Building expansion on Dec. 2, returning $747,200.78 to the project after the contractor left some contingency and allowances unused.
Jeff Fuller, director of building and grounds, presented change order No. 4 with Boughton Construction and described it as the final step to consolidate contract numbers and claim credits for unused contingencies. “So this change order is a credit change order in the amount of $747,200.78,” Fuller said.
A motion to approve the change order was moved, seconded and carried with Commissioners Eberlein, Duncan and Chair Metari voting aye. County staff characterized the outcome as positive for the project budget because the unused contingency and allowances were returned to the county.
What happens next: staff will close the contracting phase in coordination with Boughton Construction and update the county on final contract accounting.
