Animal Services reports increased transfers and community clinics ahead of holidays

Marshall Thompson, director of McLean County Animal Services, briefed the Finance Committee on Dec. 3 about the department’s monthly activity and partnerships. Thompson said 438 pets were transferred year-to-date and the department completed 479 bite and rabies investigations. The department reported 158 feline alters, 78 canine alters, 308 microchips and 308 rabies vaccinations January–November.
Thompson highlighted a low-cost vaccination and microchip clinic run in partnership with Wishbone Canine Rescue and hosted at Paradise Pets Hotel and Day Spa and praised Facilities and Maintenance for assistance at the new facility during recent snow. Thompson thanked regular volunteers, named Anne as a frequent volunteer who helps clean cat-adoption spaces, and encouraged residents to visit mcleancountyil.gov or the McLean County Animal Services Facebook page to view animals available for adoption.
Committee members commended the department’s outreach and volunteer recruitment. No action items were required; the presentation was informational.
