Key items noted included: awards to Arbor Tech Landscape Services for parkway tree removal and trimming; purchase of four heavy-duty dump/plow bodies to address extended lead times ($565,424.20); professional-engineering amendments for the Route 6 to I-80 reconstruction (to be reimbursed by IDOT); sidewalk curb replacement change orders; replacement of five rooftop HVAC units at Joliet Slammer Stadium ($242,041.80); asbestos and lead abatement at the former stadium club at 141 East Jefferson St. ($227,700); and repair and painting of the Joliet Area Historical Museum gallery ceiling (projected $69,275).
The manager also previewed intergovernmental agreements with the Illinois Department of Transportation tied to major interchange work. She said one I-80/Illinois Route 53 Chicago Street interchange project has a total project cost of about $165 million and that, because of emergency-vehicle preemption features, the city’s direct share is limited to approximately $24,150. A separate I-80 at Des Plaines River project was listed with a total cost of $183,417,058; the city expects to pay certain water-main and sewer-relocation costs and to recover a portion ($423,500) under a reimbursable agreement.
Several engineering-support agreements and sanitary-sewer rehabilitation change orders were also highlighted, including an additional sanitary-sewer lining commitment for Garnsey Park. The manager said some items are budgeted, some are reimbursable by IDOT or ARPA funds, and some will be moved from consent to the regular agenda for full council votes.
