Emerson Place developer and engineer report progress on drainage, sidewalks and road acceptance

Dave Weinstock, who said he is taking over leadership of the Emerson Place project from Bob Fox, and engineer Dan Merricken updated Town of Millis officials on construction progress.
"All of the stormwater management systems are installed. All the stormwater basins are installed. They're all functioning well," Merricken said, adding that work on May Road is either complete or underway and that a sidewalk off Ridge Street will be installed before the end of the season. He said the contractor will largely pause active work until next spring but expects to finish both ends of May Road next year and then submit as-built drawings and street-acceptance plans.
Speakers acknowledged prior coordination problems when inspectors were not notified in time; the team said they would be more proactive about calling consultants and inspectors before work requiring inspection. The contractor for sidewalks and remaining roadwork is expected to be the same firm already on site.
The developer and engineer characterized drainage as performing well after recent rains and said the housing market has slowed construction pace in recent months. The project team and town staff plan a Millis Minute presentation to the select board next Monday to update town leadership on active projects.
