At the December meeting, the Town of Millis Planning Board heard a series of development updates from the planning director and other members and marked a major state funding win for a school renovation.
Chair (Unidentified Speaker 1) said the town’s school renovation project passed and that "the town is gonna get around $60,000,000 from the state to help fix up the middle high school." Board members thanked volunteers and community advocates who supported the effort.
The board reviewed several active projects: the property at 114 Union Street remains in permitting and the transcript notes a developer still needs to secure funds to pay a town-required PFAS mitigation contribution; work at the Gateway site near the town line on Route 109 is substantially underway with an estimated spring completion; Cobble Knoll Estates is continuing construction; Emerson Place now has 21 residential units under new ownership; and a 40B project at 1060 Main Street is in final stages but slightly delayed.
Other items included a prospective sale process for 117 Main Street, a near-complete project at 725 Main Street (building permit issued), and early construction activity at 35 Main Street (Skippy's on the river). The transcript records no public comment on these updates.
The board set future meetings for February 10 and March 3 and adjourned the session.
