City public works staff presented a proposed federal-aid grant application to widen Lancaster Road between State Highway 41 and Meyer Road and asked the council to authorize a supporting resolution and LTAC funding authorization.

Kevin (public works presenter) said the application would seek about $3,000,000 toward an estimated $7–8 million project. He said the requested funding will cover widening to the limits of an existing roundabout and stop just west of that feature. Staff warned that, as with many federal grant processes, project delivery could take multiple years from application to construction and that the application deadline falls in the first week of January.

Councilmember John moved to authorize the resolution supporting LTAC funds for widening improvements and the associated grant application; the motion was seconded and passed in roll-call votes. Staff confirmed the resolution is nonbinding support to submit the federal application and pursue matching local funding where required.

What's next: staff will file the grant application before the stated deadline and provide capital-program updates as the project advances through the federal review process.
