Merrimack Valley board approves three 2025–26 goals, advances MVLC timeline

The Merrimack Valley School Board voted Oct. 6 to accept three strategic goals for the 2025–26 school year: a combined goal focused on transitions, promotions and community engagement; a goal on business partnerships; and a goal related to the Merrimack Valley Learning Center (MVLC).
Long-range planning committee members presented the goals and accompanying metrics and asked the full board for discussion and adoption. Several board members questioned whether "transitions" should be split into a separate goal because it can include different measures (for example, transitions between grade levels and post-high school supports). The committee explained the items overlap and were combined because of their interrelated nature, but board members acknowledged it would be acceptable to break them into separate goals if desired.
The facilities committee reported that the MVLC timeline will be accelerated: a follow-up facilities meeting is scheduled for Oct. 20 to dig into logistics, and the committee expects to bring a recommendation to the full board in November. A motion to accept the three goals as presented passed by voice vote.
Board members asked the committee to continue work on metrics to measure success, including participation counts and program outcomes, and to present those measures at future meetings.
