Polk board elects Justin Sharpless chair, Travis Keys vice chair; honors staff and students

Nominations for board chair yielded two candidates; following roll-call voting Justin Sharpless was elected chair. Travis Keys was elected vice chair after roll-call votes among board members. The superintendent outlined the election procedure and the board followed the district's electronic speaking order for nominations.
The meeting included oath-of-office remarks for newly seated board member Kate Wallace, who thanked family, local supporters and district staff and described priorities she brings to the role. The board also recognized a slate of administrator promotions and honored winners from the Inspire Awards, including the district principal and teacher of the year.
Superintendent Hyde and board members praised the Inspire Awards video and acknowledged district partnerships and staff efforts.
