Shawnee honors outgoing members, recognizes 32 employees; city offices to close for Thanksgiving

City Manager Paul Kramer honored outgoing council members Dr. Mike Kimling, Angela Steems, Jacqueline Walters and Tony Gillette during the Nov. 24 meeting, the communications director said.
The council recognized 32 city employees celebrating service milestones. The communications director also reported that the business-from-the-floor portion of the meeting lasted a brief period (reported as 06:01 to 06:03 in the meeting wrap-up).
The city announced that city offices and the Shawnee Civic Center will be closed on Thursday and Friday this week in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. The Shawnee City Council's next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m.; that session will include the swearing-in of four new council members.
