The Minot Planning Commission voted Tuesday to recommend approval of the Alme Second preliminary plat and a zoning map amendment that would convert a portion of agricultural land to R-1 single-family residential.
Staff said the property is south of Minot in the extraterritorial jurisdiction and that the proposed residential lot would be too small to meet the agricultural zoning's 10-acre minimum. To accommodate the new residential lot and align with the comprehensive plan designation of suburban residential, staff recommended rezoning the parcel to R-1 and approving the preliminary plat without conditions.
Commissioner Amick moved to approve staff findings and facts; a second followed and the roll-call vote returned affirmative results, carrying the motion. The commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to City Council for final action.
