Planning commission approves consent calendar, including color approval for 14300 Prairie Avenue

The Hawthorne City Planning Commission voted to adopt its consent calendar at a meeting that began at 6:00 p.m. The action included approval of minutes from April 16, Aug. 20 and Oct. 15, 2025, and a color approval identified as EC 20254 for a property at 14300 Prairie Avenue. The motion carried with three votes in favor and two commissioners absent.

Presiding Officer read the public-comment procedure before the meeting, saying: "This is the time for the public to address the Planning Commission on items not on the public hearing portion of the agenda," and reminding speakers that "The speaker shall limit their address to 3 minutes." No members of the public addressed the commission; oral communications were closed.

Commissioner Houston used the reports portion of the meeting to briefly note local business activity, saying, "I am still very, very excited about Sports Basement. I've been, like, 5 times," and thanked Hawthorne City for supporting the store's opening.

A commissioner confirmed that the applicant's representative for the color approval (EC 20254) was present in the room during the meeting. There were no public hearings or administrative items on the agenda, and commissioners reported no items to place on future agendas.
