Marion Chamber details purchase of mobile LED screen for community events

Jill said the chamber ordered the screen through RGS Productions with a 30% discount and plans to insure it; she described the screen as made for outdoor viewing and able to withstand wide temperature ranges. "When it's at full size it's about 10 feet by 17 feet," she said during the Nov. 18 presentation.
The chamber told council it is not planning to rent the unit commercially and envisions it primarily for chamber and city events. Council members asked about recharging, storage and whether the city could help store the unit when used for municipal events; staff said storage options and liabilities are under consideration and that public-works storage may present dust and exposure concerns.
Jill said the chamber will provide training for staff or volunteers and estimated a 15-minute setup time. Council members noted potential benefits at civic events and suggested discussing shared storage or operational plans in coming weeks.
What’s next: staff and the chamber will continue conversations about storage, insurance and training before the screen is placed into regular service.
