The Oak Ridge Board of Education approved multiple finance and calendar items at its November meeting, including the FY27 budget timeline, Budget Transfer Number 1 (first reading) and revised district calendars through 2027–28.
Superintendent Doctor Borchers recommended the FY27 timeline and Miss Van Dyke said she had received date confirmations from the city finance director and would distribute budget development materials that evening. The board approved the timeline by unanimous vote.
Dr. Borchers also recommended Budget Transfer Number 1 (first reading). He said the transfer covers initial grant budgets for multiple federal and local grants and routine budget revisions covering the period from July 1, 2025 through Nov. 10, 2025. The board approved the transfer unanimously.
The board approved corrections and updates to three district-year calendars: the 2025–26 calendar (correcting an incorrect election-day entry—Nov. 4 was removed and May 5 set as the election date), the 2026–27 calendar (moving graduation from May 14 to May 21 to accommodate AP testing) and the 2027–28 calendar (the presidential primary date was listed tentatively as March 7 and may be subject to change). All calendar motions passed unanimously.
In the financial report Miss Van Dyke said the district's fund balance dropped after the district paid "a little over $3,000,000" this month for computer devices; she pointed to a graph showing the change. No budget increases or cuts were proposed during the meeting; board members will proceed with the timeline and development process as recommended.
