The Rathdrum Parks & Recreation Commission approved minutes for May 2025 and August 2025 by voice vote.
The commission also voted to change its regular meeting time from 6:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; the motion to move the start time was moved, seconded and approved unanimously by voice vote during the meeting.
Recreation staff delivered a comprehensive report on recent programs and upcoming events. Participation figures included approximately 397 registrations for spring soccer (close to a prior season’s 410), 77 participants in fall volleyball (compared with 86 in the spring), 10 teams in fall coed softball and four teams in women’s softball. Staff reported roughly 400 people signed up for weekend horse-drawn carriage rides (2:00–4:30 p.m.) and described lighted vehicle parade entries (about 50 in the long route and five in the short route).
Staff confirmed the New Year's Eve schedule: activities start at 8:00 p.m. with a ball drop at 9:00 p.m.; staff said a local company, Northwest Building Components, provides crane support for the event at no charge. Other seasonal programs noted included Deck the Homes judging, Santa calls (Dec. 18), Santa letters pickup through Dec. 16, and a father–daughter dance set for Feb. 21 at KTEC.
The commission set its next meeting for Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m. (new start time) and adjourned with holiday greetings.
