The Riverfront Commission approved the minutes from its previous meeting by voice vote, heard a financial update from staff, received a park-advisory report and discussed board vacancies and scheduling before adjourning at 06:00.
Speaker 3 presented the financial packet and cautioned that several items in the report were unaudited. Board members asked staff to clarify an unusual liability entry and a $4,007.63 expenditure line; Speaker 3 said staff would follow up. "They're unaudited because we're still waiting on that," Speaker 3 said when introducing the financial materials.
The park advisory report introduced Ryan Morales as the new park supervisor and previewed seasonal lighting installations at multiple parks after Thanksgiving. The park advisory report also noted AmeriCorps members will be used next year to revive a parks-ambassador program to provide trail and riverfront presence.
Members were briefed on new north–south bike-trail segments that will link Duck Creek Path to Veterans Park, with a remaining incomplete section near 39th–Kimberly. The commission also discussed two current vacancies on its roster and the appointment process; staff encouraged interested candidates to apply online so appointing authorities (the mayor and ward alderperson) can consider them.
During public comment, a longtime volunteer and treasurer (Speaker 9) said he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and asked to remain active on the board; members responded with support. Speaker 1 proposed adjourning at 06:00 and closed the meeting with holiday well wishes.
