K‑State Extension launches JoCo Eats resource to help residents stretch food dollars

Tara Markley and Chelsea King presented JoCo Eats — ‘‘easy, affordable, tasty solutions’’ — to the board Dec. 11, describing the program’s goal of connecting residents with low‑cost, nutritious recipes and site-specific resources.
King said the platform links recipes with community resources such as local food pantries, community gardens and farmers markets, and that the program will distribute printed recipe copies to food pantries and libraries for residents without internet access. K‑State Extension staff noted the program will be paired with the county’s Kitchen Resource project and leveraged at community events for outreach.
Commissioners praised the program and asked staff to include JoCo Eats in commissioner constituent resource packets and pursue printed materials for seniors and pantry clients.
