The New Canaan Health & Human Services Commission on Nov. 6 elected officers for 2026 and welcomed new commissioners joining the body next year. Commissioners nominated and confirmed Barb Achenbaum as chair by unanimous voice vote and Jen Hadley as secretary.
Members praised the slate and said the commission is well‑positioned for the year ahead. The chair noted a number of priorities facing the commission and that some meeting dates may change; commissioners agreed to continue outreach to agencies and to strengthen liaison relationships to monitor program performance.
The meeting also introduced incoming commissioner Tracy Hamill, described by members as a Brown graduate with volunteer experience and EMT training, and noted that Maria Maglaccano could not attend but had submitted a resume outlining nursing and school experience.
The commission recorded the nominations and moved on to grant proposals and departmental reports.
