Macomb Food Program honored; public raises election-integrity concerns at county meeting

At the Nov. 20 meeting the Macomb County Board of Commissioners recognized the Macomb Food Program as the Board of Commissioners (BOC) casual day recipient for October 2025 and presented a ceremonial check for the group's ongoing programs. Presenters described long-term efforts including feeding children experiencing homelessness and a recent distribution of $15,000 in Meijer debit cards to school principals for students in need.
Charlotte McIntyre and Pam Wheeler, board members with the Macomb Food Program, spoke about the group's history and volunteers. Pam Wheeler identified herself as the treasurer and said each dollar makes a difference to families and children served by local pantries. The board voted 13–0 to receive and file the presentation and to present the check.
Earlier in the meeting Vicki Wover, special projects adviser who led the county budget process this year, publicly thanked finance department staff for their work and noted staff took on extra responsibilities during a period of short staffing. Wover singled out Crystal Jordan, Dave Stitler and Erica Taylor for their contributions and announced that Dave Stitler will retire Dec. 5 after 36 years and 8 months with the county.
During the second public-participation period Fred Neenstead raised election-integrity concerns, urging attention to ballot-stub issues, mail-in ballot processing, and perceived risks from foreign funding of ballot initiatives. Neenstead referenced pending state legislation by number as he urged the board and public to address election administration questions in the coming months.
